Thank you for your interest in volunteering at Safe Berks!
Our biggest need is for volunteers to provide dinner for the residents in our Safe House. This can be done by preparing the food on your own and deliver hot and ready to serve OR donate from a local restaurant (of your choice) and have them cater a dinner.
Additional volunteer needs are:
- Weeding/pruning our garden areas
- help clean up our property, entry ways, parking lot, stairwells, etc.
- Sort and organize donations
- Serve on committees to help plan our Walk For NO MORE or Celebration of Peace fundraisers
- Organize drives (gift cards for Wawa, Redner’s, Giant, CVS, etc. )
- Clerical support, bundling brochures, making Safe Berks pins
- Gift Wrap at the Berkshire Mall during the month of December
- Package up cell phones for refurbishment/recycling
- Represent Safe Berks at community tabling events
- Work our Front desk, answer phone calls, set up appointments, etc.
- Filing or Pull documents for shredding as needed
- Attend court and sit with survivors to give them moral support
- Work with kids in our Safe House by facilitating play groups and organize craft activities
As you see, some are one-time events, and some are for more regularly scheduled volunteers. For more information, please contact Mindy McIntosh at MindyM@SafeBerks.org or call 610.468.9637
Any volunteer activities with direct contact with survivors, requires completion of our Advocate Training program. This approximate 80 hr training is required by PCADV/PCAR for all staff and volunteers with direct client contact. The training is FREE and offered a few times a year. For more information or to register for the training, please contact Laura Preston at LauraP@SafeBerks.org
