October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Each year, Safe Berks holds the Silent Witness March & Dedication, a visual monument, to honor all those lost to domestic violence homicide. Each red silhouette, symbolizing Berks County women, men, children, and pets, displays a shield describing their untimely death. The silent march begins at Safe Berks, located at 255 Chestnut Street, Reading, and ends with a dedication program and luncheon at Reading Area Community College. This solemn yet most powerful event remembers and honors victims of domestic violence homicide and offers support to their families, friends, and community members.
